The Unemployment Cafe

This blog keeps me off the streets where I would definitely get into trouble for offending some nice, incredibly happy person.

New York City has to pay anti-war protesters $2 million [Democracy Now] -Sarah Kunstler, one of the arrested protesters and daughter of the late defense attorney William Kunstler, describes her arrest:

I was planning to go to school. I went to the protest around 8:00 a.m. Within half an hour, we were ringed by cops in riot gear. It was very frightening. I had never—I mean, I’ve been going to protests in the city since I was a child on my father’s shoulders, and I had never seen a police response like this one. I had my backpack. It was filled with books. It was heavy. I walked up to an officer, and I said, “What do I have to do not to get arrested?” And it was at that point that I was arrested.

No, NYPD, you can't just arrest people for no good reason and expect nothing to happen. Next time plant heroin on them so the charges will stick!

Some in Clinton circle 'outraged'
[CNN]
-Although I do think the media is doing all it can to fan the outrage, isn't it time for these people to take a Valium, drink a cocktail and chill out? Jesus, HRC can run for President again.

My new obsession: The Wendy Williams Show
[Racialicious]
-My sister loves this show too! I think Wendy is putting something in her weave to immobilize people when her show comes on Fox5 at 10 a.m. Monday thru Friday.

Why it's time to end our love affair with cheap fashion
[The Guardian]
-Translation: IANSJ will be naked if she can't shop at Forever 21 and H&M.

Ready-Made Rockefeller [NY Times]
-Con artists fascinate me. The intricate lies they tell so complete strangers will think highly of them. David Rockefeller aka Christopher Chichester aka Christian Gerhartsreiter was in the news recently for kidnapping his young daughter but now his real crime can be revealed: pretending to be a Rockefeller. It's actually funny that he got away with it for over 10 years. Because someone knows art and namedrops Lord Mountbatten (!) in a conversation, they are automatically a member of America's elite? I guess it's not the con artists that fascinate me as much as the people who fall for the BS, again and again.
