This blog keeps me off the streets where I would definitely get into trouble for offending some nice, incredibly happy person.

Crunch Fitness -- Why can't you just accept that IT'S OVER?

Crunch just wants to be all up on me and I don't like it like that anymore.
There was a moment but now I know it's over. So why won't they stop stalking me?

So I discovered on Labor Day that Crunch was still withdrawing money from my account
after I cancelled my membership on July 10th and agreed to have a final $25 cancel fee deducted from my account.

I find out on September 5th that I needed to give a check for the $25 cancel fee IN PERSON.
I said that the cancellation form does not indicate that a check
payment has to be made in person. A shrug from the Crunch Fitness factotum.

The factotum also informed me that on August 2nd
the attempts to contact me via phone to receive a check in person for the $25 cancel fee were unsuccessful. At this point, I asked why wasn't I mailed a request for the cancellation fee when I couldn't be reached by phone.

It seems that when I couldn't be reached via phone
and since Crunch did have my mailing address that would have been the next, logical step.

Unless the company wanted to keep withdrawing membership monthly fees from my account while not withdrawing the $25 from the same account and say it's my responsibility because they decided to only attempt to contact me via phone?

I know I shouldn't think logically but I can't help myself. Then,
the factotum informed me that Crunch only mails notifications for terminations and not cancellations.

what's the diff?

After I paid the $25 fee in person -- I have to go to a general manager and corporate to get a refund for the extra membership fees.

And yes I'm sending this blog to Crunch Fitness.

I'm going to blog about this until I get some satisfaction.

I was seriously considering switching from my current gym to Crunch, but now I'm thinking twice. I don't need that kind of hassle.

Yes, Crunch is a rip. I was paying by the month (no contract) and now some guy calls me and says I was underbilled and owe them $60. They say I can't cancel until I "zero my account." Anyone have legal advice? They're billing a Visa debit card for my checking account. I'm unemployed and broke.

Crunch has a tendency to try to screw people over!
Last week I walked in informing one of the desk attendants I would like to cancel my membership and asked when i would need to do so in order to not be charged for the next billing cycle. The friendly desk staff informed me I will need to notify Crunch before the 3rd of the month in order to not be charged for the coming billing cycle.
I took that information and went and joined the NYHRC and being satisfied with my new gym went in to have my membership canceled. . .
Now the not so friendly desk attendant allowed me to cancel the membership and then informed me I will be billed for the next billing cycle because a 30 notification is required for cancellation!
If I would have been told that the first time I would not have joined the other gym this month and be forced to pay 2 gym memberships in the same month. If I was in the wrong I would admit it. But I was misinformed by Crunch staff and now I am being forced to pay for it.
I am a college student and definitely can not afford this. Does anyone know of way to have this fee removed? Any tips on who to contact in order to have this resolved?
